Glancing up at the bright moon above, I became unfocused. My ears picked up the far-off sound of voices, but I knew I needed to keep going and move quickly. Rushing through the undergrowth, I growled when I tripped over a root. My paw was now twisted. All I could do is try and find a clearing to take off in.
Without even going back to human-form, I flung myself up into the air. As I drifted past the moon, I could hear voice shouting in rage far below me. Ha, suckers. Erasers and Scientists can't fly, now can they?
Once I was high in the sky, I felt myself using the air current to drift gently. My black fur slightly ruffled in the calm wind, and I found myself nearly drifting to sleep. Now, that would be very bad and utterly stupid, right? I mean, I am about a thousand feet above the ground. I don't think that would be very wise to fall asleep right now. But then again...I hadn't had any sleep in the past three days. I think I was moody from lack of sleep though; maybe that's why I had nearly actually ripped the throat from an Eraser. I could still taste his blood in my mouth; and believe me...it was not something I was proud of, nor did I ever want to taste ever again.
Hearing the sound of a Chopper, I quickly swooped down. Brushing the tops of the trees, I quietly settled down among the branches. I knew the Scientists from the School were looking for me...but that didn't mean I wanted to be found!
Crouching down low, I waited as the Chopper passed overhead. The light swept over the tree I was in, but I thanked Kami that my fur was as black as night; they would never see me in the night time. A few minutes after they had passed, I got up and leapt back into the air. Unfurling my wings at the last moment, I swept up in front of the moon like an angel...an angel of death.
Letting my bright blue eyes glance around once more in mid-flight, I judged there was no one around. My wings pushed hard, and before I knew it, I had set out into the unknown...all alone. How long would I last? Would I find others? Only the Heavens knew...yet something nagged at my mind. Something like a higher purpose I was destined for...
