I stared at the Flock. They were all scattered about on the floors, chairs, and a small bed. Sighing, I began kicking indivivual members. "Wake up," I hissed through clenched teeth. I hated waking them up so early (I mean, it was five AM after all), but it had to be done.
I was out flying to clear my mind when I had seen a small camp. At first I had thought it was just a human family enjoying a camping session. I had been wrong. Especially when they got up and started yelling at me. Ugh, Erasers. Great; history was repeating. Something similar had happened to the old Flock of fifty years ago.
Now I needed them to wake up and move before this house was burned down...again. We had rebuilt it from scratch when we found it. We had been so excited when we had found evidence the old Flock had lived here. Yet now we had to leave again. And we might not ever return.
Growling to myself, I kicked Rane hard. Oops, hope I didn't give him a bruise. "Get up, you lazy Second-In-Command! We need to take flight, like...RIGHT NOW!"
By then I was yelling in panic. These bums needed to wake up! Please, I begged the higher beings. Please let us get away and live! I loved them all too much to let that happen!
"Rane?" I pressed again.

Mind Reader, Millenimum Millenimum awoke with a start, fists clenched , atleast, until he knew who it was who kicked him. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes. "Ow, Cat" he muttered. "Let me guess? You found a camp?" he asked, using the odd power he had to read other's minds. He yawned, tired. He wondered why they'd been woken up at 5 AM in the morning. He resisted the urge to lay down and close his eyes again, to let sleep sweep over his sore body. Millenimum stood up, just so he wouldn't lay down and sleep again, and so he wouldn't get kicked to wake up again.

I sighed with some relief as Millenimum stood. "Good. Help me wake up the others." My command was quiet and somewhat subdued. I hoped the others wouldn't hear the tired, frazzled tone to my voice. I needed to act calm and brave in front of them. Especially the younger ones.
So far, though, Mill (As I like to call him), was the only one of the eight to wake up. It would most likely take an atomic bomb to wake up the six-year-olds and Lexi. Lord knew I loved Lexi, but he was a sleeping pig!

Awakening from dreams she couldn't remember, Era drowsily let her eyes drift open. She was sleeping on the windowseat, and her gaze was immediately directed out the window to the forests and rivers beyond. Yet the beautiful landscape was spoiled: From that viewpoint, it was all too clear what was going on as she saw murky shapes coming up the hill that lead to the house.
They didn't look like the Morning Cleaning Crew, either.
"Oh dang," she murmured, and then turned around to see Cat and Mill waking the others. Their cries must have been what had awoken her.
She sighed. "Erasers?" she asked quietly, coming swiftly to stand beside them as she pushed her black hair behind her ears. Barely waiting for a reply, she began helping to wake up the others, knowing only that this must be serious if Cat was waking them up this early.

I nodded my head solemly at Era. My attention then drifted out the window. "Well, crap."
Outside, five figures crept quietly towards the house. They didn't know they were outmatched two-to-one. Unfortunately, even if the Flock attacked, more Erasers would come. They always did.
Sighing, I turned to Mill and Era. "Alright, you two wake the others up. I'll go 'welcome' our 'guests'." With an evil smirk, I disappeared outside. Now to wait...

Era nodded to Cat and jerked her head to the door in a signal to go. Then she turned her blue gaze to Mill, eyebrows raised.
"You can take that half of the room. We'll split it and then go to the roof, if we can. It's the easiest place to launch." she said, shrugging indifferently if he had any objections, even though she knew he could probably hear it in her thoughts. Yet she was always careful to keep her thoughts hidden from everyone, so who knew?
Sighing, she took the left half of the silent room and stepped toward one of the sleeping mounds on the floor.
"Get up," she said, stooping down and shaking the figure. She hoped the others lying around the room would hear as well, although she knew most of them would be difficult to get up. They might have to fly the younger kids out of there themselves. Her arms ached just thinking about it.
But with a little bit of luck....
She snapped the lid shut on that thought. As long as she had been alive, she had never had any luck.

Little Mira rubbed her eyes sleepily, trying to figure out what was going on, everyone had started to wake up and she didnt know why. She had heard indistinct mumblings fro her comfortable little spot in the corner of the room. The child was wrapped in one of the towels they had found in the corner and had a relatively comfortable sleep all up untill she was gently kicked by her flock leader.
Mira listened for a while before she walked over to cat, rubbing her eyes sleeply like she did every morning, her wings tucked close to her small form.
"Cat...whats going on do we have to leave again?" The girl asked in her small tired voice. Mira glanced outside and her eyes widened a little, seeing one of the rather distinctive figures that crept toward the house. Mira's eyes widened with fear a little as she looked at them and then back up to Cat, Era and Mel. "They aren't gonna get us again right?"

I shook my head. "Of course they're not gonna get us. I'm gonna kick their cans while you guys take off. I promise I'll be okay." With a smile, unsure (most likely fake), smile, I stood and walked out the door. Now was time to show why I was the Leader of this Flock...
I stared for a moment at the Erasers. With cold, intelligent eyes, I waited until they were close enough to me and the house. Suddenly, with a battle cry, I launched myself at them.
They were taken aback, but they'd better learn I wasn't one to run away without kicking a few cans. Even though it was only five-to-one right now, I hoped that I would be able to knock a couple around and then take flight. I could only pray that Rane and the others would stay out; I didn't need anyone getting hurt.
Using an easy roundhouse kick, I made one Eraser double over. I swung a thick branch up that hit him in the face. With a cry, he stumbled backwards and fell down, only to tumble down the hill below. I would have laughed, if I hadn't had the wind knocked out of me. I muttered to myself before picking myself back up and swinging a fist at the Eraser. Suddenly he grabbed it, grinned at me, and threw me into the air. I hit a tree with a loud thump, and everything got blurry. With a quick shake, I jumped back up; ready to fight again. That was when I noticed I was surrounded. Four Erasers stood around me in a tight circle. I bit my lip. Just great Cat, you got yourself into a whole lot of trouble...

Era smiled uneasily as Cat left. She didn't like being left alone without a leader to follow, and Rane was still asleep. That would have to change.
She turned her attention back to the wide-eyed girl in front of her. "She'll be fine, Mira," she said softly. She stooped down to be at eye level with her. Although she knew that at this age Mira had seen far more than the average 6 year old, she couldn't help wanting to protect the kid. Her smile grew, shifting crookedly upon her face. "Now how about you help Cat out by waking up your 'brothers and sisters' with us?"
She straightened, hair falling back thickly across her face, obscuring her expression for a moment as she looked out the window to where Cat had already been set upon by quite a few Erasers. Be safe, girl, she thought, and then looked back at Mill and Mira.
"Once everyone's up," she sighed, letting her wings drift open just slightly in anticipation of what was ahead, "we fly."
And as the moon came out from behind a bank of clouds and illuminated her wings and the night outside, she stole another glance out the window, and then her heart stopped for the second time that night. Cat was surrounded.
Can't we ever stay out of trouble?

Mira only nodded weakly when Cat replied, worry and fear filling her eyes. The hybrid listened to Era as she tried to reasure her that everything would be fine, however, something told Mira things would be getting a lot worst very soon. Mira started to walk about, trying desprately to wake up her brothers and sisters...quitely sneaking around to the door her leader went out of. Little Mira was rather stealthy, even for just a six year old kid. The Little one didnt want to alert the rest of the flock, they would proably blow a gasket if they knew she was gonna try to go into battle. The Dove/Tabby Hybrid wasnt exactly the fighting type, well at least physically anyways.
The Child watched in horror when Cat hit the tree her eyes filling with tears. Mira couldn't take this, she had to do something so she did the first thing that came to mind. She projected a rather large illusion ,It was that of a 12 foot tall grizzly bear with large ravenous fangs and blood dripping from its muzzle. Everyone could probably see the thing because the stressed child wasn't focusing her ability on just the Erasers but it had the affect she wanted it to, the Erasers took one look at that thing that was now standing behind them and bolted away...for now.
Mira smiled weakily and rushed over to Cat, attempting to drag the older girl back with her. If the rest of the flock remembered, that bear was something that Mira had a nightmare about the other day. "They almost hurt you worse!" The ever worrisome child exclaimed indignantly.

I growled, baring my teeth at the Erasers. Once I saw the bear, I knew Mira had come to help. I sighed in relief as Mira came over. Even though I hadn't wanted to admit it, but I would have been a piece of meat for the Erasers by myself. Heaven knows my ghost can't fight and lead this group, now can it?
"I'm okay..." I knew I had more to say, but why wasn't anything coming out? With a slight gasp, I could feel pain in my head. Gingerly I touched the back of my head. I brought my hand out and saw red...blood...
Suddenly everything went dark...

As soon as a huge bear appeared in the front yard, Era knew something was off. She spun around, wanting to make sure that in the off-chance it came into the house and ate them all, that at least they were all accounted for.
Crap...Mira!
She looked outside, and then everything became clear.
The bear was Mira's doing, she guessed; an illusion. A grim smile touched her face. Clever child. And luckily, it had worked, otherwise it could have ended disastrously.
But then, Era tried not to be a downer. Usually.
She ran outside, wanting to see if Cat and Mira were okay, and then saw Mira staring wordlessly at Cat, who had a nasty cut on the back of her head, which was lying still, slumped against the tree where she had fallen. Or rather, been thrown.
"Oh my gosh," she whispered, shaking her head, and gingerly knelt down beside Cat, her jeans smooshing the wet grass around them that was already dark with blood.
"It's okay," she murmured, both to herself, Mira, and Cat. "Head wounds bleed a lot, but they usually aren't serious. Just a bit of ice, and then heat. Mira, can you run ahead and get me some ice, and a couple of bandages? I'll carry her back to the house."
And then we'll have to leave again, she thought glumly as she carefully picked up Cat's limp body with a grunt of effort. Now that the Erasers knew where they were, they would only have time to quickly bandage Cat's wounds and then take off. Era hoped Mill was waking the others up...
Walking in the door, she placed Cat on the old couch and stretched her arms experimentally. Lucky the flock was in good shape, or she wouldn't have been strong enough to lift her.
She wondered if Mira was getting the ice, and ran quickly upstairs to get some bandages as well...

Mira had almost screamed when Cat fell back but she knew better, if Erasers were around they would hear her and that would be very bad. The child had been staring wordlessly at Cats fallen form when she had heard Era walked up once again trying to assure her that it would be okay. Mira practically bolted inside the house when she was ordered to go get some Ice. She used the chair from the kitchen table to get a boost up to the freezer in order to retireve her prize.
The little girl skidded over to Cat who was now lying on the couch. Mira looked rather confused for a moment, not knowing what to do with the ice bag she had practically dragged over to the couch so she did the only thing she thought of doing, placing the entire bag of Ice on Cats head wound. She had also found another bag and had been planning on using it for if there was anymore injuries but this seemed to be an emergency. So Mira preceded to open the bag of ice and dump in on her fearless leaders body, hoping to wake her up.
((I love Mira))

*Time Skip*
I opened my eyes slowly and blinked at the harsh light. For a moment I thought I was dead, but as soon as I felt cold all over, I knew I was very much alive.
Letting a yelp escape my lips, I sat up quickly from the couch. With a moan, I felt pain return to my head, and I grasped it. "I feel like crap." I groaned to no one. Yet when I opened my eyes, I saw my Flock staring at me with worried eyes.
Holding up a hand, I tried to signal I was fine. Head exploding, but fine. "Um, okay. Everyone ready to take flight yet? If we need a few more minutes, then I'll be fine with that. I think I need a few myself." Glancing up, I scanned the Flock for Rane.
"Rane, could you make sure everyone is packed up and such?" For the moment, I depended him the most. For reasons I really didn't know. But as pain struck me again, I winced and tried to ignore the sensation. "Man, I didn't know trees were that hard!"

Rane smiled at cat, his mind finally calming down now that he knew she was okay. "Of course I can handle that, I'm still upset that I managed to miss all the action." He told her as he moved from his position and went to check on how the others were packing. He turned his head and spotted Lexi shoving something into his mouth. "Lexi?" He asked as he moved closer to his younger flock member. "What in the world are you doing eating at a moment like this?" Rane asked forcing his voice to stay calm. Lexi blinked and looked up his green eyes giving off false innocence. "Yof canft blamfe me fer befing hungry." Lexi stated with his mouth still full of the food he had been eating. Rane rolled his eyes and pulled the younger up by his jacket. "Look we have more important things to do then sit around and stuff our faces, Cat was hurt because Erasers have found us again." He explained he felt a little smug when Lexi's expression drooped. "Now hurry up and finish packing." He added before turning his attention onto the other members. "Are we all packed now?"

I muttered to myself at my aching head and cold body, but I said nothing aloud to anyone. I glanced over at the comedic scene taking place between Lexi and Rane. Man those two were good for a laugh...but at the moment, leaving was best.
Standing, I stretched myself. Once I figured I was okay to fly, I gave a large smile to the Flock. Didn't need them worrying, right? Unfortuantely, I could see how sad they were to leave. I turned away to look out the window before it got to me. Glancing down at my feet, I saw my bag sitting there. It was all packed. Whoever had done it for me was sweet to do that. I felt a smile tug at my lips and I gave a slight cough, trying to shake the sob that was trying to rise in my throat. Man, I needed this Flock as much as I needed air. When we helped and protected each other...it was all I needed. As long as I had them, I would never need anything else. I hoped they knew that.

Anxiously watching Cat, Era stood off from the rest of the group as she let them fuss over their leader. When she finally awoke, she too sighed with quiet relief and then slipped off to pack, knowing they'd have to leave. Checking her watch as she walked into the adjacent room, she sighed. Actually, they'd have to leave like now.
Throwing her few belongings into a pack, (a literal few) she looked around the room, which was now empty. Feeling terribly forlorn as she watched the light of a rising sun cascade across the gentle sea blue paint, she turned and put her hand on the door, and shut it softly behind her, closing the door on all the memories that would never be again.
Stepping back into the main room, she silently observed. Always she had done this. Yes, she was part of their family. But she was...different. And so it showed.

Needless to say, Mira was estatic that Cat had awakened after those heart stopping moments of silence. In that time she had packed Cats stuff in a bag and had placed it by her for when she woke up. The young lass had figured her leader would need a little bit of order when she woke up. The girl listened to Cats orders, giving a affirmitive nod to her. She then started to giggle as she listened to Rane and Lexi arguing again. They were so funny! Mira, then walked over to her things and had not trouble gather up all of her items in her satchel, stuffing the towel she was using in there as well.
The young girl sighed deeply though taking a quick glance at her small satchel of things. She wished she had a toy...maybe a small one like a stuffed animal of some kind. Maybe then her night terrors wouldn't be as bad. Mira walked back over to the group, smiling innocently at Era with that little kid smile of hers. Her big sister looked so sad and it made her worry. She was just about to ask her to come over when she heard an audible crash from upstairs.
Just before she heard cars and helicopters approaching the cabin. They were very, very close.
"They found us...." She whispered, fearfully, looking at the older members of the flock desprately for a plan.

Mind Reader, Millenimum Millenimum looked up at the roof with brillant blue eyes, hearing the sounds of helicopters. He sighed, ready for yet another battle between Avian Hybrids and Canine Hybrids. 'We'll win though' he thought, to himself, just to give himself a boost of high self-esteem. Adrenaline rushed through his veins at the thought. Millenimum smirked, deviously, looking back to the flock. "Will some of us fight to let the others get away?" he asked, quietly, hoping that it wasn't a stupid question. He thought of himself like Fang. Bold and daring, though kind and caring. Hopefully, that was enough to help Cat and Rane with the flock. Though, sometimes, he was scared, he had to put on a tough face for the younger ones, not wanting to look like he was soft.

I snarled; my teeth bared. I showed my wolf side as I looked at the Flock with wide eyes. "Window. Out. Fly. Now." I said quickly, not even using a full sentence or half-sentence. With practiced skill, I hit the window and went crashing through it. Before I even landed on the ground, I pulled my wings out. I needed to wait a moment for the Flock and so I did. Glancing up, I saw a Chopper. With another feral snarl, I turned into my wolf form. The pack on my back weighed me down slightly, but I ignored it. I began flying away from the house, waiting for the Chopper to follow. Almost in an instant did it, and I grinned to myself.
But all good plans, suck, right?
Suddenly a bullet wizzed past me. My black head swung towards the Chopper. Guns, eh? Great. I began flying in complicated zig-zags that made sure no bullet hit me. A couple got too close and left small scratches, but it was nothing serious. I glanced back and saw the Flock beginning to get out. Good for them. I'll lead the stupid Erasers off. I hoped Rane and them knew to head south-west towards the Arizona-New Mexico border in case this happened. That place was so deserted, an atomic bomb could go off and no one would even hear it. Well, okay, maybe not THAT literally, but it was close enough. "Come on, follow me, you stupid Erasers!" I barked towards the Chopper. I saw one growl and load his shot gun again. Oh joy...
