Out of First Person
Aurora flew down from Kentucky to visit her mom over Thanksgiving break. She was thankful to be leaving her small town home. She took her cat Layla with her on the plane. She was use to flying to Colorado solo now since she use to fly back and forth a lot when her parents divorced. She took her seat and enjoyed the ride while reading the newspaper she found under her seat. Though the paper got boring so she began to read her new book she got at the book store. When the plane landed Aurora was the first out of her seat and leaving the plane she called for a taxi and took a ride toward her house. She was shocked to see a new car in the driveway....
First Person
When I got home to my Mom's house I saw a different car in the driveway. At first I thought it was a new car my Mom bought but then the horrible truth remained inside. As I walked through through the door I was greeted by my Mom and some man.
"Aurora your here!" My mom always greeted me excitedly when I came here over breaks and summers.
"Uh...who is this?" I asked curiously. I braced myself for a hefty answer.
"Oh....Aurora this is Steve.....my boyfriend."
"Hello Aurora, it's nice to meet you. I heard so much about you from Morgan." Morgan was my Mom's name though my Mom always wanted to change her name to her middle name which was Ally.
I breathed a sigh of relief when they looked away for a second. I thought I was going to have a new step-dad thankfully I had time to get rid of this dude.
"Its nice to meet you too.....Steve." I tried to sound friendly as possible, but I was getting a bad vibe from this guy and well it made me edgy.
"Aurora you can go un-pack now dinner will be ready at five." That was good for me since it was only 3:00 right now and I wanted time to go down to my most favorite place in Colorado. The tree next to the lake where my Mom lived fairly close too. I finished unpacking and petted Layla good-bye and went outside. I walked most of the way then jogged the rest since I wanted to have time to hang out at the tree.
When I got to the big cherry tree I climbed up its twisted trunk and sat on the thickest limb. This was a tree I was taken too all the time when my parents were still together. I looked out on the lake and saw the ducks swimming lazily along. This was th only place I could claim as my own. This place was the only place I could come too when I needed to think and now was the perfect time to think. I wanted to get rid of Steve and when looking at the ducks I think I knew how just to do it....
